Reading . . .
“I wish I had the time”
“I want to do it more”
I’ve said all these things and more. Recently though I have fallen in love with books on the law of attraction.
It all started with The Secret a couple of years ago when my friend gave me a copy during a time of my life that was particularly stressful, and I have been intrigued ever since. My husband and I have been seeking out different authors on the subject and have enjoyed becoming more aware of ourselves and what this means in our lives through writers such as Dr. Wayne Dyer, Anthony Robbins and Rhonda Byrne.
Making time for it every day has been another challenge in itself. We love the message and the positive impact it brings but we are terrible at switching off technology and just sitting still with a book.
I think we all realise transporting out of yourself into the pages of a book for a short time every few days can only be a good thing. Giving your mind time to switch off from the every day internal chatter is a valuable release and one that when I do take the time to do, restores me just a little.
So this is my rather public promise of reading more. I would love to read a new book every month and find authors I really love in fiction with some biographical work of people revered in fashion & photography, making a move from this one genre into areas I find fascinating, rather than just personal development. I used to read a bit of light philosophy in my early 20’s (particularly enjoying novels by Jostein Gaarder) and would love to get back into this too.
So here I go. Making time . . .
