Waking up to a calm and beautiful space is for me, a very important part of having the right mindset for the day ahead.
Our bedrooms are the one part of our homes that are only about pure relaxation and indulgence.
We have all read the reports about how to get a good night’s rest – leave technology out the bedroom, ensure the lighting is gentle and the space is kept clutter free – all very important and useful advice but I also think being surrounded by positive affirmations is just lovely. If what you see in a relaxed state is in the right tone for you then it is another way to keep in touch with yourself before your day begins and when you settle down for sleep.
“. . . Our bedrooms are the one part of our homes that are only about pure relaxation and indulgence . . .”
Simple things like ensuring my diary has little love notes inserted here & there so I find them during the year, hanging them on my office door so that I see something mindful each morning when I go in and every evening when I leave, and my computer has one set on the home screen. I believe having these little love notes and quotes that are personal to you and your journey helps keep you mindful of yourself and where you’re going, even when life is hectic or not going entirely to plan.
They’re like a little pause button in your day to bring a smile and a sense of self.
While playing about on Pinterest recently I happened upon this one . . .
“Completely and perfectly and incandescently happy”
~ Mrs Darcy
No sooner had I pinned to one of my boards, a friend of mine messaged and offered to make it into a wall vinyl for me. I have seen this type of wall art around recently but had never considered seeking someone out to make a bespoke design up. Don’t you just love the power of social media?!
So here she is, adorning my bedroom wall, so the first thing I see in the morning is a reminder of the happy, whimsical mindset I like to keep and it really does bring a morning smile.
