As the leaves start to fall from the trees outside my window, I can’t help but get excited about autumn and all that comes with my favourite season . . . Sunday afternoons cooking lazy meals, hugging mugs of hot tea, wearing wooly socks, reading hard back books, and best of all, snuggling up underneath a big cosy blanket.
Here are my favourite throws I’ve seen in stores to take your summer decor from fresh to the new cosy.
This luxurious feeling throw is strokably soft and tactile. It has a suede-feel reverse side which makes it lovely next to the skin and is perfect for curling up underneath when you just can’t face the blowing winds and dark nights . . .
I adore the textures associated with cable knit, and this blended fibre throw from Zara brings an element of the luxury of alpaca into an affordable addition to your winter home. I could wrap myself up in this until April . . .
Zara Home Cable Knit Fringed Wool Blanket £99.99
130cm x 170cm ~ 40% wool, 35% acrylic, 25% alpaca
For those who prefer a pure alpaca, this stunning example can be found at Liberty. The yarn comes from baby alpaca and is so soft next to the skin. Being alpaca, it is warm and super cosy, without the bulkiness or itch associated with wool. Given the dimensions, this is excellent value and certain to become an heirloom piece in any home . . .
Any round-up of favourite throws could never be complete without cashmere, the most decadent fabric to wrap around you when the temperatures dip. This is a stunning example of a good value throw from John Lewis. I could get seriously attached to this gorgeous piece . . .
John Lewis Croft Collection Cashmere Throw £250
180cm x 130cm ~ 100% cashmere
I was inspired by The New Cosy article in the November issue of Elle Decoration for this selection. They have a stunning article showing how to layer greys to add texture and luxury to your home this season. It’s such a treat to have this magazine delivered and I always feel inspired after absorbing myself in the pages for an afternoon.
